Faces of Ghana. Faces of Hospitality.

One thing that many travelers will gush about when they travel somewhere is the hospitality that the people of other countries show to them. There are very few countries that I haven’t heard about their amazing hospitality. Ghana is no different. The people here are extremely welcoming. Even after being here for 10 months already, I still get greeted with, “Akwaaba!” or “Welcome!” at least once a week.

Everywhere I go, I am greeted by people. In a short taxi ride across town, when another passenger gets in, she says “Good afternoon.” Sometimes the taxi drivers want to get to know me better and we chat, and when we arrive at my destination, they’ll give me their phone number in case I need a taxi in the future. When I pull out my camera, many people strike a pose for me. I’ve been invited to wedding and funerals, to dinners and to hang out on front porches. I’ve been “dashed” or given for free produce and small items. I thought I would share pictures of the people here who have welcomed me so warmly into their country.
